Well guys, what a year. To call it challenging would be an understatement. Here, the best salon in Brisbane takes stock of the year that was and reflects on the highs and lows that brought our team closer together. We kicked off the year with a bang with so many exciting things in the works, but we never could have anticipated the surprise that was COVID.

Suddenly our world was turned upside down and visiting the salon became a whole different ball game. We focused on keeping our clients and staff healthy and safe and working to adapt to our new reality.

It’s been incredibly difficult to watch so many people and businesses around us struggle and we wanted to make sure we were able to assure everyone that we were here for them.

It was so lovely to see so many of you keeping up your regular appointments, but we also knew that many people had been minimising time out and about. While things aren’t quite ‘back to normal’ yet, we can’t wait to welcome you all back to the salon for good!

Before COVID hit, however, we kicked off the year with our facelift and expansion into next door. Inspired by European elegance and minimalism, the new look was designed by Brodie with accents of concrete, marble and gold. The beautiful new space is luxe, luxe, luxe and we are also excited that we now have access to the toilets without having to walk the whole building!

We also celebrated so much competition activity this year. We had 2 x QLD State Finalists for L’Oreal Colour Trophy and then a win with a National Finalist for Evie. We then had 2 x AHFA Finalist positions for Brodie for QLD Hairdresser of the Year and Jess for Newcomer of the Year! Then we also made our mark on the AHIAs with our 8 x AHIA Finalist placings For State Salon Of The Year- QLD, Salon Team Of The Year, Salon Stylist Of The Year, In-Salon Training, Business Director of the Year and HOTSHOTS 2020 Finalists for Evie and Torrie. So proud and humbled to be recognised by the industry we love so much.

We had so much fun getting super creative and creating the best hair Brisbane for our brand spanking new Rokstar campaign shoot. Of course, we created our trademark natural blondes but we also highlighted our glowing brunette skills to show our S/S20/21 style. Brodie was also a busy bee as usual giving back to the industry with her coveted education skills. She was able to create a gorgeous 40s Hollywood inspired look which was featured on the cover of Instyle magazine as part of the latest L’Oreal Professionnel campaign. Finally, the most exciting news of all: a Rokstar baby! Yes, our amazing leader Brodie is soon to be a mum and we couldn’t be happier for her. Our motto this year has been #togetherwearebetter and in a year that has been so challenging our team have hit some incredible goals individually and as a salon and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of this team. As we head into 2021 and Brodie takes some much-deserved time with the new arrival, Rokstar is in the best hands and ready for whatever next year brings!

We also wanted to check in to let you know that we are continuing to place emphasis on health and safety guidelines as our utmost priority including;

Best in show has to go to winner of the night- Zendaya. Not only did she break the record by being the youngest person to ever win Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series, she did it with impeccable style. As if she hadn’t done enough already, she also gave us not one, but two, perfect looks thatcouldn’t have been more different. First up, a sleek and chic chignon tucked neatly at the nape of the neck, with a deep side part to bring the drama. But the piece de resistance was the style in which she accepted her award. Best described as a bardot blow dry with a magically appearing fringe, this look was all volume and oomf and was the look of the night. Well, we decided to kick off 2020 with bang, and go all out with a brand spanking new salon expansion. Yep, that means that now there is even more Rokstar for you all to love! Never fear though, we aren’t going anywhere, we have just taken over the space next door to give us all that extra room. So, you can still get your best blonde, best balayage and best bobs right here in the convenience and comfort of the location you already love, just with a fresh new look and feel!

Our luxurious redesign takes the salon from 13 to 18 stations and means that getting a coveted appointment is now that little bit easier. The new improved space is still imaginative and innovative, sophisticated and elegant, but without compromising on its cooler, edgier side. We have retained the raw, industrial essence crossed with clean lines and natural luxury for the perfect definition of urban chic. The new design also incorporates beautiful European archways, Venetian plaster and a stunning black and white aesthetic, with touches of our trademark rose pink to add a feminine feel.

Plus, there are a few special touches in the mix:

• Our tech hub featuring the latest salon innovation- the PIIQ mirror. These incredible mirrors ask you guys questions to gauge personal style and lifestyle, before taking a facial analysis and providing examples of hairstyles on famous women who look similar, to give ideas about what would work with your face shape. This area will also include a full tech set up with charging stations for phones and laptops, perfect for all your multitasking needs.
• The “The Hair Spa”. This revamped basin area will be sectioned off from the salon floor to maximise privacy and to act as a relaxing oasis for our team to provide you with the most indulgent treatment services.
• Our continued focus on sustainably and eco-friendly choices.
• A private mirror and space where women can remove their Hijab and welcome those who have not been able to visit a luxury salon for this reason.

Brodie-Lee and the team have always taken growth and expansion very seriously and we have worked hard to be certain that we are ready and well equipped to step into this next phase.
