Are you as obsessed with the Barbie press tour as we are?! Margot Robbie has totally knocked it out of the park, and we are seeing pink- everywhere. From the designer-created Barbie outfits to the knock-out make-up, the best hairdressers in Brisbane at Rokstar have been pouring over every red carpet look. We are ready for Barbie-core in a big way!

One of our favourite looks? The Los Angeles world premiere where Margot wore a Schiaparelli haute couture gown modelled after the ‘Solo in the Spotlight’ Barbie from the 1960s. Perfection! But the best part – the hair of course. It is a high-glamour doll-like style reminiscent of the volume and structure of the time.

Here we run down how to achieve the look, something we can whip up for you in the salon!

To create the look, wash and prep hair with Kerastase Chroma Absolu shampoo and conditioner before towel drying. 

• Add a volumizing product like TECHNI.ART Full Volume Extra Mousse from the roots to cut down on blow-dry time, before adding heat protectant and blow drying for big volume.
• Once hair is dry, go in with Velcro rollers and set the hair in large sections. Once hair has cooled, pull it up in a ponytail, leaving 2 inches of hair down at her hairline.
• Set the ponytail in 2-inch curls, along with the section of hair at the hairline that was left out. Once set, gently brush them out and work the bangs and ponytail into the‘60s-esque shape. 
• Then, set it all in place with TECNI.ART Air Fix Hair Spray.

This ponytail gives the look of ease and effortlessness, but it is actually more complicated than it looks so if you can’t achieve it at home, time to give us a call and watch us work our magic!

Copper hair has been having more than just a moment recently and we love that it is once again right at the forefront! Here at the best salon in the West End, Rokstar, our amazing team are colour experts, and we are masters at creating the perfect red shade for every skin tone, hair texture and lifestyle.

Contrary to what you may think, copper is actually one of the most flattering hair colours and can suit most skin tones. You might have seen the AW23 runways featuring lots of bright neon red hair, but that’s not what we are talking about for this timely trend. In real life, opting for copper is easier to maintain and carries a more grown-up appeal yet it still feels unique and expressive.

The latest to jump on board with their own take? Kerastase’s own poster girl Emily Ratajkowski has just entered her redhead era.

The model, author and podcast host revealed her red hair transformation on Instagram with the caption “Gone red”. Gone are her previously brunette tresses and she now has a warm touch of burnt copper.
